July 6, 2017

Oakland, CA

Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP, the largest law firm in the East Bay representing businesses throughout the Bay Area and state, welcomes Gary A. Barrera as a partner in its Insurance Practice Group. Barrera joins the firm from Nicolaides Fink Thorpe Michaelides Sullivan LLP.

“With our continued and steady growth, Gary’s addition will further bolster our client service offerings and will be a great complement to our already successful insurance coverage group,” said Managing Partner Richard Waxman. “With his unique background in all aspects of insurance disputes, Gary is a welcome addition to the team and to the firm.”

Barrera has more than 12 years of experience in insurance coverage litigation. He has defended insurance carriers and third-party administrators on bad faith, declaratory relief and equitable contribution actions and has extensive experience with construction defect, professional liability, environmental and property damage claims. Barrera has also represented major residential homebuilders in all aspects of construction defect litigation and resolved insurance coverage disputes arising out of construction claims on behalf of policyholders. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a claims representative and examiner for multiple insurance carriers and third-party administrators, including Farmers Insurance Group and Gallagher Bassett Services.

Barrera earned his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law (2004) and his B.A. from the University of San Francisco (1993).
